Why Choose to Ski in Seefeld, Austria?

In the Austrian region of Tyrol, Seefeld is surrounded by the Wetterstein and Karwendel mountain ranges which it shares with Innsbruck and Achenkirch. Enveloped in these epic mountainscapes, Seefeld is a gorgeous Alpine village settled within the Seefeld Plateau.

With stunning architecture and plenty to see in the village itself, you can spend time exploring the Seekirche church with its iconic baroque domed roof. The Parish Church of St Oswald is steeped in history and is one of the most beautiful late Gothic buildings in Tyrol, but even the ski chalets in Seefeld are picture perfect, so you don’t need to go far to encounter spectacular buildings.

On the periphery of Seefeld is lake Wildsee, which is a beautiful Alpine lake surrounded by mountains. With outstanding natural beauty in abundance, you can enjoy these striking landscapes at any time of year, but it draws in crowds particularly during the Winter period due to the exceptional skiing associated with the area.

Home to the Nordic events of the Winter Olympics in 1964 and 1976, and many other tournaments since then, the region is a haven for winter sport enthusiasts. Skiers can enjoy world-renowned skiing, with newly-renovated ski lifts and chairlifts. Seefeld has the celebrated Rosshütte, Gschwandtkopf and Geigenbühel-/Birkenlifte ski areas on its doorstep.

As well as world-class skiing, Seefeld offers excellent hiking, with the Seefelder Spitze (2,221m above sea level) being a sought-after destination for hikers. For families, there are plenty of non-skiing activities, to ensure that you have just as much fun both on and off the slopes.

Linked by rail to Munich in Germany, the region is easily accessible via Munich airport. It also makes visiting Munich or Garmish Partenkirchen in Bavarian Germany and Innsbruck, Austria much more convenient. Why not throw in a sightseeing day into your ski holiday and maybe even visit another country at the same time?
