Why Choose to Ski in Zell am Ziller, Austria?

A very popular ski resort in Tyrol, Austria, in Zell am Ziller you can find the epitome of Austrian charm. Set in a valley plateau and surrounded by mountains, the iconic parish church spire dominates the charming village skyline.

The church is just as beautiful inside as it is outside, with dramatic paintings on the roof and gilded shrines that surround the main hall. Other architecture highlights of Zell am Ziller include the stunning alpine ski chalets and partially wooden houses, which perfectly reflect the Alpine setting.

The ski resort encompasses the slopes of Rohrberg and Königsbrunn, which connect all the way to Hochkrimml and Königsleiten in the region of Salzburg further to the East. This makes up the Gerlossstein ski area which has 143 kilometres of pistes just waiting to be explored.

The resort sits at 680m above sea level, with slopes that extend up to well above 2000m. As such, Zell am Ziller boasts a long season of skiing, with the resort open from December well into Spring. The ski lifts and chairlifts are top spec with some of the latest technology. The ski area stretches along the beautiful lake Speicher Durlaßboden, a jewel of outstanding natural beauty.

For a change of pace from skiing, all of the family can enjoy the activities on offer at Zell am Ziller. Find a toboggan run, an Alpine rollercoaster, a leisure park with an ice skating rink, an indoor tennis court and a bowling alley.

Not far from the main slopes of Zell am Ziller is Hoarberg and Mayrhofen to the South, and Kaltenbach and Hochfügen to the North. This entire region is world famous for its skiing.
