What Is a Ski Pass?

A ski pass, often referred to as a lift pass, is an essential part of your ski holiday. It is what allows you access to ski lifts and funiculars, as well as access to the slopes and other parts of your ski resort.

Without a ski pass, you will find it difficult to do the most fun part of visiting the mountains: skiing! You can buy day passes, week passes, 6-day passes, seasonal passes and much more. It’s often the most economical to buy a pass for 6 days if you are travelling for one week, since you will most likely only have 6 full days to ski.

Just pop your ski pass in the pocket of your ski jacket, and prepare yourself for a day of tackling the slopes and fantastic mountain views.

The price of ski passes varies from resort to resort, and you can either buy access to a smaller or larger area of resorts. To save on costs, you may wish to consider only buying a ski pass for the ski resort that you are staying in. However, if you want to have more freedom to explore, you can get an all-access pass to larger areas, for example to the Paradiski region which will give you access to La Plagne, Peisey-Vallandry, and Les Arcs. Similarly, for the region of Portes du Soleil, there is a ski pass which gains you access to Les Gets, Morzine, Avoriaz, Châtel and more.

Many resorts also require a ski pass to gain access to other activites such as sledging, paragliding, cinemas, zip wires and more. So make sure you get the ski pass that’s right for you and capitalise on all the fun the mountains have to offer!
