Mayrhofen ski resort

Located in the heart of Tyrol’s Zillertal valley, Mayrhofen is one of Austria’s best-known ski resorts. Surrounded by spectacular Alpine peaks, the resort combines a traditional Tyrolean atmosphere with a large and varied ski area suitable for beginners, families and experienced skiers.

The Mountopolis ski area offers 142 km of perfectly groomed slopes and 61 modern lifts. The ski area brings together Ahorn, Penken, Finkenberg, Rastkogel and Eggalm, with 89% of its skiable terrain located above 1,700 metres, providing excellent conditions throughout the winter season.

For thrill-seekers, Mayrhofen is also home to the legendary Harakiri, Austria’s steepest groomed slope experience, with a gradient of up to 78%. Its five areas welcome both experienced freestyle skiers and snowboarders as well as beginners looking to practise their first tricks. Events not to be missed in Mayrhofen

The Brits

From 14 to 19 March 2027, The Brits will bring spectacular freestyle skiing and snowboarding to Mayrhofen. Some of the best British athletes will compete at PenkenPark in exciting disciplines including Slopestyle, Big Air, Rail Jam and Skicross. Visitors can enjoy impressive tricks, thrilling competitions and a lively atmosphere in one of Austria’s most renowned snowparks. This event is a must-see for freestyle enthusiasts and anyone looking for an action-packed experience on the slopes.

Full Metal Mayrhofen

From 29 March to 3 April 2027, Mayrhofen will become the loudest metal destination in the Alps. Full Metal Mayrhofen combines winter sports with live performances by international metal bands, mountain stages and unforgettable evening parties. Visitors can spend their days skiing through the Zillertal mountains before enjoying concerts and entertainment throughout the resort. This unique festival offers an energetic experience for music lovers seeking a winter holiday with a difference.

Snowbombing Festival

From 5 to 10 April 2027, Snowbombing will return to Mayrhofen for one of Europe’s most iconic mountain festivals. International DJs and live artists will perform across a selection of spectacular venues, from mountain stages to clubs in the village. Combining skiing, electronic music and lively après-ski parties, Snowbombing transforms the resort into an unforgettable festival destination and provides the perfect way to celebrate the end of the winter season.

How to get to Mayrhofen?

By train By train

Travel by train to Jenbach railway station, the main rail gateway to the Zillertal. From Jenbach, the Zillertalbahn railway provides connections through the valley to Mayrhofen. 

Mayrhofen has its own railway station close to the village centre, making it easy to reach the resort without a car.

By car By car

Mayrhofen is easily accessible by road through the Zillertal valley. From the A12 Inntal motorway, take the exit towards Zillertal and continue through the valley to Mayrhofen.
Once in the resort, local buses and ski buses make it easy to travel between the village and the main ski lifts.
