Sölden ski resort

Located in the heart of the Ötztal valley in Tyrol, Sölden is one of Austria’s most renowned ski resorts. Combining spectacular high-altitude scenery, modern ski infrastructure and two glacier areas, the resort offers excellent snow conditions and a particularly long winter season.

The Sölden ski area offers 147 km of perfectly groomed slopes served by 31 modern mountain lifts. Stretching from 1,350 to 3,340 metres above sea level, the ski area includes the Rettenbach and Tiefenbach glaciers, providing reliable skiing conditions from autumn through to spring.

Sölden is also famous for its BIG3, three ski mountains above 3,000 metres with spectacular panoramic viewing platforms. From glacier skiing and challenging runs to mountain restaurants and unique experiences such as 007 ELEMENTS, Sölden offers much more than a traditional ski holiday.

Gaislachkogl, Tiefenbachkogl and Schwarze Schneid are three ski mountains rising above 3,000 metres, each offering spectacular viewing platforms overlooking the Ötztal Alps. Sölden is the only ski area in Austria where three peaks above 3,000 metres can be easily reached by mountain lift, making the BIG3 one of the resort’s most iconic experiences.

Step into the world of James Bond at 007 ELEMENTS, a unique cinematic installation located at 3,048 metres inside the Gaislachkogl mountain. Built at one of the original filming locations of Spectre, the experience takes visitors through nine interactive rooms featuring film installations, original props and behind-the-scenes content, all surrounded by spectacular Alpine scenery.

Tobogganing in Sölden

Swap your skis for a sledge and enjoy the 7.3 km Sölden-Gaislachkogl toboggan run, one of the longest in Austria. Starting from the Gaislachkogl middle station, the route descends towards the valley through spectacular winter scenery. The run is also suitable for families, and on selected Wednesday evenings it is illuminated for a memorable night-time tobogganing experience.

Events not to be missed in Sölden

Audi FIS Ski World Cup Opening

On 24 and 25 October 2026, the world’s best alpine skiers will gather in Sölden for the official opening of the FIS Ski World Cup season. Held on the Rettenbach Glacier, the event features women’s and men’s giant slalom races in a spectacular high-altitude setting. More than 140 athletes and thousands of supporters will create an electric atmosphere, complemented by glacier parties, award ceremonies and entertainment throughout the weekend.

Electric Mountain Festival

From 12 to 17 April 2027, the Electric Mountain Festival will transform Sölden into a high-altitude celebration of electronic music. International DJs will perform across venues in the ski area, surrounded by snow-covered peaks and spectacular Alpine scenery. The festival’s main concerts will take place at Giggijoch, allowing visitors to combine spring skiing with live music and unforgettable après-ski experiences.

Wein am Berg

From 22 to 25 April 2027, Wein am Berg will bring renowned winemakers and leading chefs together in Sölden for an exceptional culinary experience. Visitors will be able to discover fine wines, creative cuisine and exclusive tastings in an elegant Alpine setting. Combining gastronomy with spectacular mountain views, this event offers a refined way to celebrate the final weeks of the winter season.

How to get to Sölden?

By train By train

The closest railway station is Ötztal Bahnhof, located at the entrance to the Ötztal valley. From the station, regular bus and transfer connections provide access to Sölden.

By car By car

Sölden is easily accessible by road through the Ötztal valley. From the A12 Inntal motorway, take the Ötztal exit and follow the main road through the valley towards Sölden.

Once in the resort, ski buses provide convenient connections between accommodation, the village and the main ski lifts.

By plane By plane

Innsbruck Airport is the closest major airport to Sölden. From Innsbruck, the resort can be reached by car, transfer or by combining train and bus connections.

Munich and Zurich airports are also possible alternatives for international travellers.
