Unlike much accommodation in French purpose built resorts, there is no direct access onto a piste. The nearest (Petit Col) is a 5/10min walk (in ski boots) on a fairly level road. The external ski/boot room is small but has good sized lockers - the boot warmers were not working during our week. (As Travelski do not seem to provide reps in any resort, we had to obtain our pre-paid lift passes from a machine at the nearest collection point in the town centre but were unable to get the QR code to work so had to join a lengthy queue). Apparenty renovated recently, the building has a traditional wood exterior with rooms on 3 upper floors and a small dining room (breakfast only) + Reception/lounge area on the ground floor. Bedrooms were of a good size (for ski accommodation), quiet, comfortable and well equipped. Daily cleaning was to a very high standard. Given the rather limited space/number of guests, the breakfast was surprisingly good (but necessarily less extensive than most 4* accommodation). Evening meals are taken at one of four restaurants within a 2 -10min walk and cater for a range of tastes. The food in all was very good (especially the Gourmet, where a 15 euro supplement applies if on H/B) though the required pre-booking system could be improved as it took some effort to obtain the earlier sittings. There are bars in 2 of the Montana Village hotels but neither were particularly inviting as heating was limited! The Aigle du Montana Reception staff were great fun - very friendly and helpful. All-in-all, I would recommend for an enjoyable & relatively 'good value' holiday.
