The ski area connects Königsleiten with Gerlos, Hochkrimml, Gerlosstein and Zell am Ziller. The terrain includes accessible blue pistes for families and beginners, long red slopes for intermediate skiers and several challenging black runs. SkiMovie courses, speed checks, photopoints and fun runs add an entertaining dimension to the skiing experience. Experienced skiers can attempt the Skicircus Challenge, an extensive circuit connecting Saalbach, Hinterglemm, Leogang and Fieberbrunn. Covering approximately 65 km and 12,400 metres of accumulated elevation, it is designed as a full-day skiing adventure. The Top Express gondola connects the two main sectors, making it possible to spend the day exploring the entire ski area. The resort’s altitude provides reliable conditions from November through April.

Königsleiten provides a convenient starting point for families staying in Wald im Pinzgau. The area offers ski schools, children’s zones and wide pistes suitable for practising in a relaxed environment. Events not to be missed in Wald im Pinzgau

Königsleiten Winter Market

On 29 December 2026, the Königsleiten Winter Market will take place near the Christ the King Chapel. Visitors can enjoy a festive Alpine atmosphere and discover regional products while spending an afternoon in the snow-covered mountain village. The market provides an inviting seasonal experience for families, couples and groups of friends. Visitors can watch the spectacular start, follow the race live and welcome competitors at the finish while enjoying music and entertainment in the event area. The opening provides visitors with an early opportunity to discover the slopes, mountain restaurants and high-altitude winter scenery

Moonlight Skiing & Dinner

On 21 January, 22 February and 22 March 2027, experienced skiers can take part in Moonlight Skiing & Dinner in Königsleiten. The evening begins with a gondola ride and a sundowner accompanied by a live DJ, followed by dinner in a mountain restaurant. Participants then descend towards Gerlos by moonlight before returning to Königsleiten by shuttle. Advance booking is required. Visitors will be able to experience top-level ski racing in an impressive mountain setting, while the rest of the Skicircus is expected to remain open during the event.

Arena König

On 26 March 2027, Königsleiten will host the seventh Arena König race. Open to participants aged 16 and over, the timed downhill course begins near the Königsleitenspitze and finishes in the village. Competitors will complete a 3.8-kilometre course with approximately 650 metres of vertical drop. Visitors can watch the race before enjoying live music and the prize ceremony in Königsleiten.

How to get to Wald im Pinzgau?

By train

Wald im Pinzgau has a station on the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn, the regional railway connecting Zell am See with the upper Pinzgau valley.

Travellers can take a mainline train to Zell am See and continue towards Wald im Pinzgau by regional train. Local buses and ski buses provide connections to accommodation and the Königsleiten ski lifts.

By car

Wald im Pinzgau can be reached from Salzburg in approximately 2 to 2.5 hours and from Innsbruck in around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the selected route and winter conditions.

From Salzburg, the usual route passes through Zell am See and Mittersill. From Tyrol, the village can be reached via Kitzbühel and the Pass Thurn. Winter tyres are compulsory, and snow chains may be necessary during heavy snowfall. An Austrian motorway vignette is required when using motorways.

By plane

Innsbruck Airport is approximately 105 km from Wald im Pinzgau, while Salzburg Airport is around 145 km away.

The village can be reached from either airport by rental car or private shuttle. Travellers arriving in Salzburg can also take a train to Zell am See and continue by regional train to Wald im Pinzgau. Munich Airport, approximately 210 km away, is another option for international visitors.
