Ski first aid kit

In this article, you will find recommendations for your first aid kit to bring on your ski trip. We often remember it, but it isn’t always packed due to forgetfulness or lack of space. Don’t forget that it is essential for winter sports, especially when the pharmacy is closed or the on-call pharmacy is far from the resort. It is a must-have for your mountain holiday. Especially if you’re travelling with children, we advise having a first aid kit nearby to reassure them. Here, we reveal the contents of the ideal first aid kit for your ski holiday.

A good first aid kit for your ski holiday should include bandages, disinfectants, wraps, gauze, painkillers, and anti-inflammatories. Add some sunscreen, lip balm, and medications for headaches, digestive issues, and colds. With this kit, you'll be ready for all the minor emergencies on the slopes.

Antiseptic :

This essential item in your first aid kit is perfect for combating infections of the skin and mucous membranes. Don't forget it for your mountain holiday. You'll find several travel-size models so you don't have to sacrifice too much space in your kit.

Alcool at 60° :

To disinfect a wound or injury, here’s another must-have for your first aid kit when out on the ski slopes.

Sterilized gauze:

You absolutely must have this in your first aid kit. It is used to clean and disinfect both superficial and deeper wounds using antiseptic or 60° alcohol.

Hydrophilic cotton:

This product can be useful in your first aid kit. You can use it for skin and facial hygiene.

Adhesive tape:

This is an essential part of your first aid kit. Adhesive tape will allow you to secure bandages or gauze and, importantly, keep your child's wound protected from the open air.

Small pair of scissors:

This will help you cut the adhesive tape or bandages.

Bandages of various sizes:

During your mountain holiday, you might pack a few in your backpack and first aid kit. They will be very useful if you or your child get injured on the ski slopes, for example.

Paracetamol / Ibuprofen :

It’s something we remember, but we might easily forget to pack it in our first aid kit. An important medication to have in your kit for any destination. It will come in handy during your ski holiday.

Arnica :

An arnica ointment in your first aid kit is indispensable. It will relieve bruises and soothe any pain if you take a fall while skiing.

Thermometer :

The thermometer will be ideal for taking your temperature or that of your child if you experience headaches during your ski holiday.

Tweezers/ Splinter removal tweezers:

Why have one in your kit? If your child unfortunately gets a splinter in their hand, the tweezers will allow you to remove it easily.

Eye drops:

You can include these in your first aid kit because the cold and snow favor conjunctivitis. Having them in your kit will help you enjoy a better mountain holiday.

Hemostatic gauze:

This winter, during your mountain holiday, you or your child might experience nosebleeds due to the altitude. Don't forget to pack them in your first aid kit and take it with you on the ski slopes.

An anti-inflammatory ointment:

When skiing, you might experience muscle pain. You can apply the ointment to the painful area. Don’t hesitate to include a tube in your first aid kit during your mountain holiday.

Biafine :

This product is very effective in your first aid kit against sunburns or superficial burns.

Don't forget in your toiletry bag :

UV lip balm:

The cold, wind, or dry winter air can weaken your lips. We recommend adding a lip balm to your bag to keep them hydrated.

Hand cream:

Hand cream is a must-have in your bag. Mountain temperatures are often below freezing, and you’ll need to protect your hands from chapping.

Sunscreen:

Sunscreen is essential for you and your child, as the sun can be strong in the mountains. This will help prevent sunburn during your ski holiday.
