Val-d'Isère is a ski resort in the Savoie region of the French Alps. Just 5km from the Italian border, it is twinned with the Tignes ski resort to form the Espace Killy ski area.
With an eclectic mix of accommodation options, you can expect to find a diverse choice of ski hotels, wooden chalets, apartment buildings and tourist residences in Val-d'Isère. This allows you to fully customise your ski trip, even within one intimate ski resort.
Well-known as a snow sure ski resort, the Pissaillas Glacier allows for skiing even during the summer months. Val-d'Isère is also well-serviced by snow cannons, which artificially place snow onto the ski slopes. This further adds to Val-d'Isère’s credentials as the perfect option as a place to ski well into the springtime.
Val-d'Isère does cater very well for beginner and intermediate skiers, but it is particularly known as a resort that appeals to more seasoned expert skiers.
That said there is an entire area dedicated to children’s entertainment and family-friendly activities.
With people inhabiting the Val-d'Isère region since Romain times, the region has some charming and authentic older architecture, including the old town with its iconic parish church.
